Privacy Policy – SmartReceipt

SmartReceipt (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and shared when you use the SmartReceipt mobile application.

Information We Collect

1. Account Information

Email address (used for authentication and account management)

2. Receipt Data

Images of receipts uploaded by you
Text extracted from receipts using Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
Parsed receipt details such as store name, date, items, and totals

3. Payment Information

Subscription purchases are handled by the respective app distribution platform.
We do not store or process your payment card details directly. We receive limited subscription status information necessary to provide access to paid features.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Authenticate and manage your account
Scan and extract data from receipts
Organise and display your receipts within the app
Maintain your subscription status and determine access to premium features
Improve the accuracy and reliability of receipt processing

AI and Third-Party Processing

SmartReceipt uses third-party services to process receipt data:

Google Cloud Vision API – for OCR and text extraction from receipt images
OpenAI services – to interpret extracted text and structure receipt information

Receipt images and extracted text may be securely transmitted to these services solely for the purpose of processing your receipts.
We do not use your data to train AI models.

Manual Tester Upgrades

During testing phases, selected users may be manually upgraded to paid features at no cost for evaluation and feedback purposes.

Data Storage and Security

Receipt images and data are stored securely using cloud infrastructure.
We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

We do not sell your personal data.

Your data may be shared only with:

Service providers required to operate the app (such as OCR and AI services)
App store platforms for subscription management

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account remains active. When your account is deleted, associated receipt images and extracted data are permanently removed from our active systems within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.

Account and Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your SmartReceipt account and associated data at any time. To delete your account: Open the SmartReceipt app Go to Account → Delete Account Alternatively, you can request account deletion by emailing: vaibhs.sh@gmail.com All associated receipt data will be permanently deleted as part of this process.

Your Rights

We process your personal data based on your consent and the necessity to provide the services requested by you.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

Access your personal data
Request correction or deletion
Withdraw consent where applicable

Children’s Privacy

SmartReceipt is not intended for use by children under the age of 13.
